Here is a list of five newly-released Indian films to watch in theatres this weekend.

Shah Rukh Khan’s much-awaited film Pathaan is finally in theatres. The SRK starrer is directed by Siddharth Anand and produced by Aditya Chopra. The action-spy thriller also stars actors Deepika Padukone, John Abraham, Ashutosh Rana, and Dimple Kapadia. This is Khan’s comeback to the big screen after almost five years. SRK plays a RAW agent who is re-appointed by the Indian government after it senses danger from neighbouring countries. Deepika Padukone, a fellow agent, joins him in his mission. John Abraham plays the antagonist. Pathaan is a must-watch film with family and friends.

Gandhi Godse—Ek Yudh

The movie narrates a parallel reality in which Mahatma Gandhi survived Nathuram Godse’s murder attempt. He is shown trying to change the man who attempted to murder him through conversation. Deepak Antani plays Mahatma Gandhi, while Chinmay Mandlekar plays Nathuram Godse. The film is directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by Manila Santoshi. This one’s for history lovers.


This Malayalam thriller is a one-actor film that is set during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic in India. It is written by Shaji Kailas and produced by Antony Perumbavoor. The film stars Mohanlal as Kalidas, who is stranded alone in an apartment during the pandemic. The story deals with the eerie events that happen inside the apartment. Watch it for Mohanlal.


Mahesh Surapaneni directed this Telugu action thriller, which was produced by V. Ananda Prasad under the banner of Bhavya Creations. The film stars Sudheer Babu, Srikanth Meka, and Bharath Niwas in the lead. The film is a remake of the 2013 Malayalam film Mumbai Police, starring Prithviraj. The story revolves around the life of a police officer, ACP Arjun (Sudheer Babu), who loses his memory in an accident. He must retrace his past to get back his life, and the answers to his questions might be unpleasant. Those who liked the Malayalam original can watch Hunt.


This Kannada action drama is directed by V. Harikrishna and produced by Media House Studio. With Darshan as the protagonist, the film stars Rachita Ram, Ravichandran, and Sumalatha Ambarish in supporting roles. Kranti Rayanna (Darshan) is an NRI businessman who returns from Europe to his village for the celebration of his school’s 100th year. The story is about how he saves government schools from being demolished. If you enjoy old-school films, you should watch this.
